Don MaherDon Maher, President

With more than 22 years of in-depth experience in the challenges of marketing and selling complex capital equipment and services, Don Maher’s background reflects a successful record as an effective executive and advisor in sales, marketing, and strategic planning.

As President of Maher Marketing, Don helps organizations grow market share, profitability and revenue, enhance product positioning, improve marketing and sales effectiveness, evaluate potential acquisitions, coach executives, plan new product launch strategies, and more.

Before founding Maher Marketing, Don was VP of North American Sales and Service for Lam Research, where he led a 215-person organization and was responsible for over $200M in annual sales. While at Lam Research, he established and expanded highly successful business relationships with AMD, IBM, Intel and Texas Instruments.

He also spent 15 years with Applied Materials-serving in a variety of roles including VP of Business Development for the Service ($1.2B sales) and Etch ($1.4B sales) Divisions, General Manager and Chief Marketing Officer of the Service Division, and VP of North American Regional Sales and Service ($575M sales). His accomplishments included growing a number of businesses, numerous new product penetrations, a successful service and spare parts branding campaign, leading the team that evaluated an $800M potential acquisition, and developing and negotiating multi-million dollar service agreements.

Don has an MBA from Santa Clara University and a BS in Business Administration (Marketing Major) from West Virginia University.

Mike Shiffer, Partner

A performance-driven business executive with extensive sales leadership and business development experience, Mike brings to Maher Marketing a wealth of knowledge in highly technical and complex products and markets.

With over 20 years of experience in high technology sales, Mike has developed successful business plans and strategies that have produced benchmark performance in market share and profitability.  Through effective leadership, processes and training, he’s developed the sales organizations he’s led into real competitive advantages for the companies he’s worked for.

Prior to joining Maher Marketing, Mike worked for Applied Materials, where he held management positions of increasing responsibility in marketing, business development and sales. In his last position, Mike was both Sales Director and Regional Manager supporting Fortune 500 clients. In this role he was responsible for more than $100M of capital equipment and service sales annually.

Mike started his career with National Semiconductor, where held a variety of engineering positions including equipment, process and engineering management. Mike also serves as a Board Member of the Santa Clara Vanguard, a non-profit performing arts organization, where he has played a key role in improving the organizations’ effectiveness and financial performance.

Don Joslin, Creative Director

Don Joslin joined Maher Marketing in 2009. He has more than 12 years experience in brand building and strategy development with a focus on designing direct marketing campaigns, corporate websites and print collateral. Don’s charter is to work with the Maher strategy team and clients to develop and promote a strong, unified brand ensuring a strategic marriage of copy and design to achieve maximum results for all outbound communications.

He is highly accomplished in demand generation strategy and execution. Don is particularly savvy in understanding how to effectively market in the Web 2.0 world and advises clients how to best leverage social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and other communities, how to build effective standards-compliant websites, and how to increase visibility and demand generation through search engine optimization (SEO).

Prior to joining Maher Marketing, Don has worked for national advertising and demand generation agencies, which resulted in many effective, high concept and award winning campaigns.  Don has also run his own design and direct marketing firm servicing such top-name clients as Xerox, HP, Motorola, and Compaq.
